Description
11/3/26 - For sale is a WW2 German Luftwaffe officer's dagger, second pattern, made by F.W. Höller of Solingen, complete with its scabbard, portepee knot and velvet-backed hangers. The second pattern Luftwaffe dagger was introduced in 1937 to replace the longer first-model dagger, and was worn by Luftwaffe officers and senior NCOs as part of their dress uniform. F.W. Höller was one of the respected Solingen blade makers, and this example carries the company's oval "thermometer" trademark etched clearly on the blade. The dagger features the classic pebbled crossguard with the Luftwaffe eagle, an oak-leaf ferrule, and a ball pommel with oak leaves and a swastika. It is in very nice condition overall. The wire-wrapped grip has toned to a rich yellow-orange color and is in great condition, with no major damage. The blade is very nice overall, with some light spotty discoloration here and there. It comes with its gray steel scabbard, an aluminum portepee with a small spot of fraying in the cord, and a set of blue-gray and silver hangers with brown velvet backing and a "DRGM" marked clip.
