Very Nice Luftwaffe Sword w/ Double Hanger - SMF

8/11/26 - For sale is a very nice Luftwaffe officer's dress sword from the late 1930's. The sword was produced by SMF in Solingen. The sword is in excellent condition. The aluminum fittings on the handle of the sword are bright and in excellent condition. The majority of the gilding on the swastikas remains, though on the crossguard, the gold has turned color into a dark patina. The dark blue Moroccan leather on the handle is in good shape but shows signs of wear and has some scuffing. The wire wrap is in excellent shape.

The blade has a beautiful high polish finish and is in mint condition. The cross grain is visible and there are no signs of grinding or sharpening. The SMF logo and a waffenamt are visible near the crossguard. The blue leather washer is in place.

The scabbard is in excellent shape and free of major deformities. The aluminum fittings are bright and only have minor wear marks. The blue leather on the scabbard is in excellent condition with minimal wear. The hanger accompanying the scabbard has a bit more wear and cracking to it, as it is a more stressed piece of leather. The clip piece is properly marked "D.R.G.M.". There is a maker mark stamped on the back side of the upper hanger. It reads "Otto Jahne". There is more writing but it is difficult to make out. There appears to be a name "E. Batt" stamped there as well.
