M40 Luftwaffe Helmet

7/15/25 - This is a good example of an M40 German Luftwaffe helmet. A majority of the exterior dark green paint is intact, and there is an excellent German Luftwaffe decal on the left side of the helmet which is clearly visible. The exterior of the helmet has some scratches especially around the crown and dome of the helmet as well as some paint transfers, but there is almost no patina except on the left hand side by the edge of the brim. The interior of the helmet has spots of oxidization and rust on the left hand side from the aluminum band that holds the leather liner to the brim, along with a patch of rust on the interior dome. The aluminum band and leather liner are intact. The leather liner has some surface cracking around the entire band, and some of the leather tongues have ripped either partially or fully, but the leather is still soft and malleable and the name "Wilcke" has been written inside. The original leather chin strap is missing and has been replaced with a shoestring.
