Description
12/16/25 - This is a Martially-marked Colt Single Action Army revolver from 1884. Chambered in .45 Caliber with a 5.5" barrel. It is mismatched with a "US" Property marking on the frame with an early "A" Ainsworth proof on the rear grip strap. The barrel is a more modern replacement. The serial number on the front strap has been ground, and the number on the frame has been partially defaced. The gun has lost virtually all of its with finish with spotty oxidation, discoloration, and areas of minor pitting throughout. Some case-hardening visible on the hammer only when pulled back. Fitted with wood grips that do not show any cartouches (small chip on the right side). The hammer only has one distinct "click" when cocking. The bore has good rifling with only very light pin-pricking.
