Mauser C96 – Matching Unit Rig

4/8/26 - Commercial Mauser C96 pistol in 7.63mm Mauser, serial number 8758, offered as a fully matching unit rig with its original matching holster-stock and harness. All visible numbered components match, with correct German commercial proofs. Although the four-digit serial number is sometimes misinterpreted as indicating an early variation, Mauser archive research (as summarized by Mauro Baudino) indicates this example is best understood as a wartime-era commercial C96 with atypical serial placement, reflecting non-linear serial usage during wartime production and inventory pressures rather than a separate early model or any Scandinavian or Finnish contract, which are not documented in Mauser factory records. Importantly, pistols of this commercial type did pass through military arms depots and distribution channels during periods of wartime shortage, explaining their later association with military handling without implying a formal factory contract. The gun's finish rates about 96-97% with just minor high edge wear. The bore has good rifling with minor frosting in the grooves. Fitted with matching-numbered wood grips. Tiny import mark on the inner channel of the stock lug.
