SOLD - Mauser P.38 With Provenance - byf 43

7/25/18 - This is a desirable collectors Mauser P.38, as Legacy purchased it directly from the son of the veteran who captured it - Dennis Kogut.  The pistol is all matching and original with standard thinning of the finish but no major flaws.  The vet, Lt. Frank Kogut, led a tank platoon involved in various WW2 battles, including the battle for Cherbourg.  Ernie Pyle, the famous journalist, traveled with his battalion and Lt. Kogut became the subject of a book and various articles.  Relevant pages from the book, Our Liberators, The Combat History of the 746th Tank Battalion During World War II, will be included with the sale of this gun.  Lt. Kogut received two purple hearts as well as other honors for his service.  He lived to be 102 years old and recently passed away.  His son has provided a signed and serialized letter providing some details about his father.
