Description
6/8/26 - This is an as-new example of a Colt M1851 Navy revolver, Robert E. Lee Commemorative. One of 2,500 made and authorized by The United States Historical Society and the Williamsburg Firearms Manufactory. The Florentine engraving design is after the design of the '51 Navy Colt Pistol of Robert E. Lee. It was presented to General Lee by Sam Colt and is now in the collection of the Confederate Museum in Richmond. The name LEE is etched on top of the barrel surrounded by 24 karat laurel wreath engravings. The laurel wreaths are also engraved in gold on the two adjoining flats of the barrel. On the side plate are etched three gold stars, for the rank of general. The left walnut grip has inset into its side the 24-karat gold-plated bronze Lee bust in high relief. It comes with a gorgeous wood presentation case, powder flask, a tin for the percussion caps, and a sterling silver Lee Medallion. Minted exclusively for this pistol, the Robert E. Lee Medallion was sculpted by Anthony de Francisci. His other commissions have included the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the US Mint and the official Inaugural Medal for Ronald Reagan. The gun also comes with its original paperwork and a signed certificate of authenticity. The gun is like-new with no signs of wear or use. This is black powder only, so no FFL is required.
