Description
2/9/26 - This is a mint example of a Smith & Wesson Pre-Model 10 Police revolver, complete with the original factory Smith & Wesson box. The hand-written numbering on the bottom is very faint, but it is matching to the gun. Pre-10s with an "S" serial number prefix were made immediately after the war, from 1945 to 1948. The serial number range was S811338 to S999999 (from 1945-1948), at which point S&W switched to a "C" prefix, placing production date on this somewhere in 1946-1948.This revolver has retained nearly all of its original finish with only a hint of a cylinder turn line. Featuring a desirable 4" barrel, this revolver is all matching, with the serial number stamped on the barrel, frame (butt), cylinder, and on the inside of the grip plate. The wood grip panels are in great shape with no chips or cracks. The assembly number is present on both the frame and the yoke. Chambered in .38 Special, this Smith & Wesson has a bright, mint bore. Excellent timing and lock-up.
