Model 1881/1909 Imperial Russian Officer's Sword - E&F Hörster

9/21/26 - This is a Imperial Russian Officer's Sword Model 1881/1909 manufactured by the German blade company E&F Hörster out of Solingen. The blade in this sword is in good shape with no signs of any bending or warping. The sides of the blade show some surface scratches and wear present along the length of the blade, but the edge shows no signs of any chips. The ricasso on the left side of the blade bears the maker's mark. The cross guard and the hand guard are ornately marked with minimal wear. There is a small surface scratch above the handle on the right side of the cross guard. The pommel and the pommel nut both bear the Russian Coat of Arms, the double-headed eagle. The plastic handle on this sword is in great condition with no signs of any cracks, though it does have two small areas of chipping, one at the very bottom of the right side of the grip and on just above the bottom on the left. The scabbard with this blade is in good shape with very little surface finish loss on the leather. About a third of the way up on the right side of the holster, there is a line of finish cracking. The fittings on the scabbard are in great shape with a beautiful patina.
