Description
10/27/26 - This is a nice example of a WWII-era Japanese Good Luck Flag. These flags were signed with messages for good luck and best wishes in battle. Soldiers then wore and kept these flags as mementos from their loved ones. This example is in nice condition with multiple handwritten messages, or "signatures". The flag has no rips, holes, or tears. There are a few small spots of staining and slight discoloring, and another spot or two of what appear to be remnants from a sticker or some sort of paper adhesive. The silk-like thread is thin and semi-transparent. The borders have retained great stitching throughout with no signs of any tears. Two of the corners are reinforced with leather to prevent ripping through the flag while it is being displayed. A nice example measuring roughly 96.5cm x 70cm.
