Description
3/6/26- For sale is a 1938 K98 bayonet with a rare G-date scabbard. The letter date codes were used to hide and disguise German armaments production in violation of the Treaty of Versailles, making letter dated items some of the very earliest arms produced during the Nazi era. The bayonet is nicely blued with light wear concentrated towards the tip. One side of the blade is serialized "8324h" and the other side has the manufacturer name "E.u.F. Horster". The spine of the blade is dated 1938. There is no chipping or cracking to the grips. The scabbard is also nicely blued, with some edge wear and additional wear underneath the frog. The scabbard has been renumbered to "8324" to match the bayonet, and the back is marked "S/155G", the 1935 manufacturer code for Horster. Because the scabbard is renumbered, this set could have possibly been matched in the factory from leftover parts and issued in this configuration. The leather frog is aged and slightly worn but there is no serious damage or tearing. Overall in very good condition.
