Description

11/19/21 - This is a very nice example of an all original, unaltered 1908 DWM Bulgarian contract Luger pistol. There were exactly 10,000 of these pistols ordered by Bulgaria in the 1908-10 time frame. This specific pistol falls into the second block of serial numbers as it has the small letter "c" suffix. These are a very difficult example to obtain in original unaltered condition (such as this example) as they saw heavy use in both the WWI and WW2, having been rebuilt at least once or twice by DWM. The chamber is marked with the DWM scroll monogram and unique Bulgarian Crest on top of the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension is stamped with a single "Bulgarian Rampant Lion" acceptance/proof mark with no other acceptance proofs. The lower safety lever area is marked "FIRE" and the left side of the extractor is marked "LOADED" both in Cyrillic lettering. The pistol has all matching numbers with about 70% blue remaining. It has at least minor thinning in most areas, but it's most pronounced on the grip straps. It has matching numbers throughout, with a period mismatched magazine. The magazine is a rare, correct example for this model though. The grips are unmarked but are almost certainly original to the gun as they feature the cutout for the lanyard ring and fit perfectly. Bore has good rifling but a little frost and freckling throughout.
