Description
7/15/25 - This is a rare 1908 First Issue DWM military Luger. There were only 25,000 1st issue examples produced, so this is an interesting piece with a rich history. The first issue Lugers were the first military produced Lugers in 9mm, as this was one of the most requested changes in response to the earlier 1902 and 1906 models. However, this one has a replaced .30 Luger barrel, indicating it was likely shipped to a commercial US retailer. The front strap has a slightly flattened surface, so it probably had a military unit marking that was ground off. It correctly has no stock lug on the back strap, and it originally had no hold open. However, a hold open was added later by the Erfurt arsenal - you can see it on the right side of the frame with a tiny Erfurt proof. The "1908" on the chamber was added post-factory. The gun was likely re-blued at the arsenal when it was re-worked. It comes with a matching-numbered magazine that appears to be original. The bluing rates about 94-95%, and the majority of the wear is around the muzzle. Fitted with un-numbered wood grips - blemish on the left side. Minty bore.
