Description
6/24/26 - From the collection of Tom Whiteman. A COA will be provided. This is a rare 1908 First Issue DWM military Luger. There were only 25,000 1st issue examples produced, and roughly 6,000 were unit marked. This one has a rare "98. R. M. G. 37." machine gun unit marking on the front strap. The first issue Lugers were the first military produced Lugers in 9mm, as this was one of the most requested changes in response to the earlier 1902 and 1906 models. This one is all matching and has Imperial military acceptance proofs on the left side of the slide. It has the proper early features, such as no stock lug, and it originally had no hold-open (one has been since been added at an arsenal). It comes with a matching-numbered magazine, but we don't believe the numbering is authentic. Added numbering on the spine. The wood base has a small gouge in it. The finish on the gun rates about 96% with very minor high edge / muzzle wear, some light scratchy wear on the grip straps, a few scratches on the left side of the frame, with some light pitting around the left side of the muzzle and right front of the side rail. Fitted with un-numbered wood grips. The bore has good rifling, but there is light frosting throughout.
