Description
4/23/26 - This is a rare 1908 First Issue DWM military Luger with machine gun unit marking on front strap. There were only 25,000 1st issue examples produced, and roughly 6,000 were unit marked, so this is an interesting piece with a rich history. The first issue Lugers were the first military produced Lugers in 9mm, as this was one of the most requested changes in response to the earlier 1902 and 1906 models. The front strap is unit marked '8.R.3.2', for 8th Infantry Regiment. It is mostly matching, but the side plate is mismatched, and the rear toggle pin and firing pin are un-numbered. The gun has been completely reblued. While there is very little actual finish loss, there are areas of pitting under the bluing, most noticeable on the left side of the gun and on the grip straps (where there is also some oxidation). Fitted with un-numbered wood grips. The bore has good rifling, but there is pin-pricking and frosting in the grooves.
