Description
10/15/26 - This is a rare Chicom Tokarev Type 51, manufactured in Communist China in 1953. The Type 51 was China's first domestically produced Tokarev, a direct copy of the Soviet TT-33 that differs only in its markings. It was made from 1951 to 1954 at Shenyang's Factory 66, with early production using a mix of Soviet and Chinese-made parts, before the designation was changed to the Type 54 in 1954. Some were captured during the Korean War and brought home as trophies, but the Type 51 is seldom encountered in the United States today, and most examples that do surface are well worn. The right side of the frame is marked with the Chinese characters for "Type 51" and the factory logo, and the left side carries the serial number, a star with a Chinese character inside, and the 1953 date. It is all matching and comes with a period-correct but mismatched magazine. The gun has lost virtually all of its original finish, with areas of honest, spotty patina throughout and some areas of light pitting here and there. Fitted with period-correct black bakelite grips; the inner star logos have been painted. The bore has great rifling, but there is pin-pricking throughout. A scarce, early Chinese Tokarev from the Korean War era.
