Description
02/03/26 - This is a rare example of a first variation Jager self-loading pistol sold on the commercial market during WWI (made from 1914-1917). The pistol has retained about 96% of its original bluing, with wear on both sides of the slide around the serrations, and along the high edges of the frame. There are additional areas of finish loss on the underside of the frame and trigger guard, and mild thinning and hints of oxidation on the grip straps. The metal shows some additional minor dings and handling marks here and there. The bore is very shiny with minor oxidation, but the rifling is slightly worn. It comes with a proper and well-fitting set of original dark brown horn grips with a few handling marks and some dings along the external perimeter, though the left panel has some extra material attached on the interior to help it achieve that fit. The pistol comes as a rig with an unmarked, slightly worn leather holster with German writing on the interior flap and a couple of missing stitches from the reverse side belt loop, where it appears that a loop was replaced or repositioned. Notably, there were never holsters officially made for these pistols. Included is an original spur magazine that is numbered but mismatched to this pistol, which makes sense since this pistol lacks the magazine well groove in the front strap (characteristic of first variation spur magazine examples) and would have likely been manufactured with a flat bottom mag (though exceptions have been noted).
