SOLD - Rare and Unique DWM Luger - Krieghoff Inscribed

12/30/21 - We have to admit, we have not seen one like this before. It is not a Krieghoff in the usual sense, but before Krieghoff started making their own Lugers, they sold DWM luger in their retail and sporting goods outlets. These are typically marked HK or Krieghoff somewhere on the frame. This one is marked HK on the right side of the receiver. In addition, this Luger has the Krieghoff inscription on the left side of the frame as well. This inscription is typically seen on early commercial HK, but not typically on the DWM manufactured Lugers. Also, the finish on the plate where the inscription is found has a browned or patina look to it compared to the rest of the gun. So, this inscription could have been added later and then blued over. The gun is a .30 caliber commercial Luger in very good condition. The numbers are all matching except for the magazine. The gun has Crown/N commerical proofs and was likely made in the late 20's to early 30's. About 90% of the original finish remains but much of the straw coloring on the small parts has worn away. Nearly all of the wear is around the Krieghoff inscription. The grips fit well but are unmarked - proper for a commercial Luger. Bore has some frost throughout and a little wear to the rifling.
