Description
2/6/21 - This is a rare, original Colt Commando with two inch barrel, made in 1942. From Charles Pate's book on World War II handguns, “…two-inch Commandos were for intelligence and plain clothes military personal.” He also states, “Only 3,450 revolvers were originally shipped to the military with two-inch barrels. These revolvers may be identified by their round front sight and the long company name marking with a ‘CONN’ (rather than ‘CT’) abbreviation for Connecticut. Several thousand four-inch Commandos were converted to two-inch after the war. These revolvers have the later ramp sight and the short company name." This example is one of the original revolvers that was originally shipped with the two inch barrel. The finish is original but somewhat difficult to rate, as there is some dullness and patina but not much actual bluing loss. Flaming bomb proof on frame. Terrific bore. Excellent grips with only minor handling wear.Specifications
