Description
5/27/26 - This is a nice example of a rare Colt US single action artillery model. The action is tight as a drum and works perfectly on all 4 clicks. The frame is "US" property marked with mixed military military inspection proofs. All parts are matching-numbered except for the barrel. The grip panels show no visible military inspection cartouches. Overall, it is in nice condition for its age. There is obvious brown "attic patina" throughout, and some of the original bluing is intact on the barrel. Some case-hardening visible on the frame in some of the crevices. A few scratches and dings here and there. There is noticeable bruising on the bottom edges of the grip panels, likely from a soldier using it as a hammer (this was a common occurrence in the field). The bore is very nice for its age - strong rifling with just light freckling throughout. This is an antique, so no FFL is required.
