Description

8/31/26 - This is a rare CZ 46, a P.38 put-together from leftover Nazi parts and reworked by the Czechs in 1946. This one is all matching, but the slide appears to have been re-numbered to match.  Proper "46" marking on the right side of the trigger guard. There would have been Czech lion proofs, but they have been peened - next to the "E" and next to the "Eagle 88" proof on the left side of the frame. The frame and slide have "Eagle 88" proofs, indicating they were made by Spreewerk. The left side of the barrel is marked "Waffen 76", indicating it is a scarce, Czech fnh-made made. The finish rates about 90% with general high edge / muzzle wear, a hint of thinning and very light brown patina on the front strap, and some light scratchy wear on the slide. Fitted with excellent dark brown bakelite grips. The bore has good rifling, but there is light frosting throughout. De-cocker is functional. It comes as a rig with a scarce, late-war, "U" marked magazine and a post-war holster. The takedown lever fits a bit loose but seems to function fine. This pistol is pictured on page 200-202 of Per Mathisen’s recent book The P-38 in East Germany and Czechoslovakia.
