Description
4/9/26- For sale is a rare WWI era belt buckle from the German Duchy of Mecklenburg. The German Empire was technically made of up of various member states and while Prussia was by far the largest and most powerful, there were other states like Bavaria, Württemberg, and Mecklenburg. Because Mecklenburg was so small, their equipment is some of the rarest German field equipment. The buckle is a stamped brass with a steel emblem on the front in the form of a sunburst and coat of arms. The back of the buckle is the standard German design with prongs and a hook for the belt to attach to. There is some patina on the buckle and a few spots of light corrosion on the back of the buckle. Overall in very good condition and a rare piece!
