SOLD - Rare DWM Model 1902 Luger Carbine Rig

11/10/20 - This is a fantastic example of an early production DWM Model 1902 Luger carbine that is complete with it's original walnut shoulder stock. Approximately 2,500 were manufactured, beginning with serial 21,000. This particular example has the number '10' marked on the small parts, but the arms that holds the forearm appears to have been replaced and soldered in place. Thus, the five digit serial isn't seen. All these early carbines exhibit the very desirable early features such the long frame, flat mainspring, grip safety, dished toggles, toggle lock on the right side, recessed/flat breech bolt, and flat straw colored extractor. One of the most unique features is the 11 3/4 inch carbine barrel with a detachable checkered forearm. The underside of the barrel is fitted with a small lug that engages a small spring actuator located inside the forearm that helps to cycle the heavier carbine barrel during firing. No other Luger has this feature. The top of the chamber is blank, and the front toggle has the standard DWM logo. Fitted with the correct 3-position rear sight (adjustable from 100-300 meters) and a small ramp front sight base fitted with a bead front sight. The last digits of the serial number are discretely marked on the various parts in the correct commercial manner. Fitted with a set of original and unnumbered checkered walnut grips. It is complete with an original and unnumbered walnut shoulder stock that has a fine checkered pattern in the grip area and horn buttplate. Comes with one original commercial magazine with a correct unnumbered wood base. The finish rates at 97% with just a bit of finish loss on the muzzle and front strap. The finish was likely professionally or arsenal restored at some point, and there is some freckling under the blue on the frame. Terrific bore.
