Description
6/17/21 - This is a rare example of a Model 1906 "Republic Of Portugal Navy" contract Luger as produced by the DWM factory, with the large "R.P./Anchor" marked chamber area. This is the rare second variation, not to be confused with the earlier, "Royal Portuguese Navy" models. These specific pistols were produced or contracted for "after" the "Republic of Portugal" was formed in 1910. Previously many collectors thought these were just the earlier model that was remarked, but they are not, this is a distinct, separate variation and it is estimated that the total contract was for approximately 1,000. This gun is mostly matching except the side plate and has retained about 94% of its finish with wear on the side plate, side rails, and around the muzzle. While there isn't much actual finish loss, there is heavy spotty oxidation and areas of minor pitting throughout. Heavy brown patina on the straps. A few very minor dings here and there. Comes with period-correct grips that have bruising throughout and heavy bruising on the right side. Comes with a correct 9/mm marked magazine with a small crack in the bottom. Excellent bore - shiny with strong rifling.Specifications
