Description
1/7/26 - This is a rare variation of the Ithaca Model 1911A1 from 1943. This one is stamped "M 1911 A1 US Army" on the right side of both the slide and frame. There are also matching flaming bomb ordnance inspection stamps on the inside of the frame and on the slide (under the firing pin retainer), indicating this gun is an original and correct example of this rare variation. Proper "HS" High Standard barrel. It has retained about 93% of its finish with minor high edge and muzzle wear. Some areas of brown patina here and there. Fitted with correct reddish plastic grips and comes with a commercial magazine. The bore has good rifling, but there is some frosting in the grooves. There is a small hole tapped and threaded at the back of the slide just behind the rear sight. There is also a small spot at the back left of the slide that appears to be an old repair in the metal. It almost looks like it was welded, ground, and had some cold-blue applied - hard to notice at a quick glance.
