Rare Japanese Type 99 Arisaka 4x Scope and Case - Tokyo Shibaura Electric Co.

9/14/26 - A rare WWII Japanese Type 99 4x sniper scope manufactured by the Tokyo Shibaura Electric Company - modern-day Toshiba - complete with its original case (the case lid is detached from the body). The original black finish is in great shape with very minimal loss: hints of high-edge wear, channel scratches from the mounting latch arm, a few dings mostly on the right side, and scratching near the maker's mark caused by the cracked screw inside the case that holds the wooden bracket. The markings are all there - 4x7 multiplier above the maker's mark, serial No. 9083 below it, the mount's pressure plate serialized 2476, and the mount stamped "F88". The eyepiece retains its rubberized cover (now rigid and fragile, but present) and the reticle is clear with crisp lines. The case keeps a majority of its exterior coating and most of its stitching in great shape - the only missing stitches are on the back (lid attachment and belt loop) and where the front strap attached to the lid (strap not included), and one of the three screws for the wooden scope-alignment bracket is missing. Type 99 sniper optics rarely surface at all, let alone with the case - a centerpiece for any Japanese WWII collection.
