Description
05/07/2024 - For sale is a Mosin Nagant Model 1891 made by Remington for Czarist Russia during WW1. This specific rifle is rare as it never left the United States and it is full matching. After the Communist takeover of Russia, the Communists would default on the US Contract and the US Gov't would buy out the contract to save Remington and New England Westinghouse. The US would then adopt many of these Mosins to be training rifles and issued to the National Guard, or would sell them off to the public. This rifle likely stayed in the states as it never received the Russian Acceptance stamp on the stock. The rifle is matching on the barrel shank, magazine, bolt, buttplate, and the cocking piece. These parts are all stamped R in a circle for Remington. The metal is in good condition but has freckling throughout. The wood stock is in good shape with no cracks or breaks. The rifle is missing its upper handguard and the rear sling escutcheons are not pressed in all the way. The rear sight spring is weak and the rear sight is loose. The bore is in good shape which shines bright with visible rifling but it is frosted throughout.Specifications
