Description
1/21/26 - This is one of the rarer AC 43 P.38's from World War II. It has the large "ac" over the 43 but is E/WaA135 proofed on the frame, barrel and slide. Jan Still's Axis Pistols (p.30) states that some of the P.38 slides were manufactured by FN in Belgium and marked with the ac/43 or ac/44 code. These slides were shipped to both Mauser and Spreewerke, where they were assembled into complete pistols. It is estimated that about 4,000 P.38's bear these FN ac marked slides. This one is all matching and has a dual-tone phosphate and blued finish. These finishes can be difficult to rate, but we estimate it has retained about 93%. There is general high edge wear, muzzle wear, a small area of wear on the right side of the barrel, and some light scratches and marks here and there along the slide. Fitted with correct reddish phenolic grips and comes with a proper "Waffen 135" marked Mauser magazine. The bore has great rifling, but there is some minor frosting in the grooves. De-cocker is functional.
