11/17/25 - This is a nice example of a rare Police "Eagle L" marked BYF 44 Mauser P.38 that was issued to the German Police in 1944. There were only 4,600 of this variation produced, and 3,200 of that in 1944. All matching. There appears to be a factory over-stamp of the "8" in the serial number on the frame. The finish rates about 90%. The majority of the wear is on the front strap, so the profile views are pretty nice. There is general high edge wear, muzzle wear, an area of scratching on the right side of the slide, and a small area of minor pitting at the back right of the slide. Fitted with reddish phenolic grips. Minty bore. De-cocker is functional.
