Description
5/14/21 - This is an impeccable example of a rare Mauser Standard-Modell rifle that was part of a contract order by the Japanese Technical Authorities. The Japanese bought about 20,000 K98s and Standard Modell short rifles from Mauser through an agent in Finland. The Standard Modells were of the late type with Kar98k-type wide lower band with a integral swivel and the single Kar98k barrel band retainer spring. Serial numbers were in the B50K-B70K range, so this is one of the last examples produced. The order was about half and half, so roughly only 10,000 of these ordered/produced. They were stored at Japanese Naval bases such as Sacebo, and feature a Kanji proof behind the sling swivel. This one dates to ~1937 and is in just superb condition. All matching and original with straight bolt design. Gorgeous, high-polish bluing throughout with just a hint of high edge wear. Mint bore. Beautiful stock with only minor dings and nicks.Specifications
