Description
2/17/26 - This is a rare Nazi issued rifle, made in 1944 at the FEG factory in Hungary. These rifles were originally manufactured during the early part of WWII as the Hungarian model 35, at the Metal Goods and Weapons Factory in Budapest, Hungary. This is the first '44 dated example we've had, which was the lowest total production year (only ~14k). After the German takeover, these rifles were designated the model G98/40 and the factory was given the wartime German code of "jhv". This rifle is similar in function and operation to the standard K98 rifle with nearly identical front and rear sights, making training and reissue to the German military very easy. This example is all original and correct. It has matching numbers on the bands, receiver, barrel, bolt, rear sight, and trigger housing. The finish is original and in great shape. There are a few spots of wear on the receiver, barrel bands, and floor plate. Most notably, there is heavy scratching over the serial number on the rear barrel band, but the serial number is still visible. Comes with cleaning rod and sight hood. Stock has been sanded at some point in time but is in good shape and the serial number, factory code, and waffen stamps are still very visible. Bright bore with strong rifling.
