Description

7/29/21 - This is a very rare Steyr G29(o) assembly that was part of a small Luftwaffe contract. These rifles were part of a separate contract that was being manufactured at Steyr when the 1938 annexation of Austria occurred. The Luftwaffe, in desperate need of small arms, immediately took over the production and the rifle was modified as much as possible to the standard 98k Rifle configuration. It was made briefly in 1938 and early 1939, after which the factory was re-tooled to manufacture the standard K98k. These rifles are all Luftwaffe marked, and this one is Eagle/L proofed on the stock. This rifle is all matching throughout, down to the screws. The original blue is in very good condition with minor thinning on receiver and a little bit of wear around the muzzle and front band. The stock is structurally sound but does have a large ding on the left side, and you will also see that various names and initials have been carved into it. Names like Hubert, Hamburg and Schmidt can be seen. It appears this was done by the American soldiers who later captured it, as it is also dated to August of 1945. Includes a sling and cleaning rod. Bore is shiny with strong rifling but some frost throughout.
