Description

4/25/18 - This is a very rare Simson Luger made in the Weimar period in Germany, between the wars.  Simson started manufacturing lugers in 1925 using equipment from the old Erfurt arsenal.  Production was very low as the German army was limited in size and equipment following the Treaty of Versailles.  Simson & Co. was the only company authorized to produce lugers for the German army during this time but then the company was nationalized by the Nazis in 1933.   So total production from 1925 -1933 was very limited - even more rare than the Krieghoff lugers.  This gun is all matching and all parts are correctly stamped with the Simson Eagle/6 proof mark.  Only the magazine is numbered to a different gun but it is a correct Simson magazine.  My best guess is that this gun was made in 1931 or 32.  The original finish is about 92-93% with nice straw colored small parts. The grips are original as well with the full serial number on the reverse as well as the Simson proof. Even the grip screws are fire blue in color and have the tiny Simson proof.   Everything on this gun is correct and original with the exception of the non-matching magazine.   The mechanics are very good and the bore is shiny and strong.   A great example of a rare Luger for the advanced collector.
