Description
6/12/26 - This is a rare Smith & Wesson Model 13 lightweight revolver that was produced and issued to the US Air Force. About 40,000 were initially produced but only a tiny fraction remain as they were deemed unsafe and most were destroyed by the Air Force. Cylinders would split due to overpowered ammunition being used. This example has matching numbers on the yoke. The 'PROPERTY OF U.S. AIR FORCE' marking that would have been on the back strap has been scrubbed. The top of frame is marked 'REVOLVER, LIGHT WEIGHT M13'. There is noticeable finish loss on the cylinder, obvious handling marks and scratches on most the gun, and significant damage to the cylinder and top strap. This is common with these guns and is the main reason they were rejected. We would not recommending firing this gun. Fitted with checkered wood grips - noticeable bruising on both sides. Minty bore.
