Description

10/1/24 - This is an excellent example of the rare Swedish M41 sniper rifle as made by Carl Gustafs. There were only ~5,300 of these ever produced with the German-style side rail mount and AGA 3x65 M/42 scope. In 1940, the Swedish military realized it had a need for scoped sniper rifles but had none of the production in place, so they ordered the scopes and short rail type mounts from the Germans before the Germans realized they needed them all for their own military. They were built on existing Swedish rifles that had already previously shown particularly good accuracy, and in 1955, Sweden upgraded all of the rifles to feature the same characteristics (numbered mounts, AJACK scopes only, and peened screws). This is the more rare M/41 variant that was not upgraded to an Ajack scope. All numbered parts on the base rifle match, and the original bluing is in very good condition overall. The scope rail is and scope mount are mismatched to each other, and neither match the rifle. The scope has nice, clear optics. Terrific bore. Comes with a leather sling and an original cleaning rod, though the rod is mismatched. The stock has no notable defects and is in excellent condition. The buttplate has the matching serial to the rifle.
