Description

2/1/19 - This is a very scarce “transitional” S&W Model 1917 (N-frame) in .45ACP. Under a thousand of these guns were made in the late 1940s, all in the 210xxx - 211xxx serial range, some with and some without the S-prefix. These guns still have the pre-war hammers and a single line inscription on the right side of the frame. The grips used on these guns were recycled from the Kansas City Police “heavy duty” N-Frames and are often not matched to the gun. This particular example is in incredible 97-98% condition with minor muzzle wear and roll marks on the cylinder. The blue is deep and lustrous. It is an all matching gun, except for the correctly mismatched grips. An original and matching maroon box is present as well. A factory letter is included, too. This is one of the most difficult variations for a collector to acquire and likely cannot be upgraded.
