Description
10/15/25 - This is an M&P .38 1902 that was made for the U.S. Navy. Built on the round butt K-Frame, the revolver has a 6-inch barrel and is chambered for “.38 S&W Military” which is actually just the .38 Long Colt Cartridge. The gun features U.S. Naval serial numbers and Navy anchor on the butt of the grip frame. All matching. The Model is a continuation of the earlier Navy order in 1900 for 1st Model Military & Police revolvers (also known as 1899 Army Navy Revolver). Only about 1000 of the model were made for the contract and the U.S. Navy serial range is 1000 to 2000, this one is 1907. The Smith & Wesson serial range for this cont ract is 25001-26000 and again, this one is in the proper range (25905). This one has an old re-blued finish. There is some spotty wear along the barrel and some pin-pricking under the finish here and there. Original factory case-hardening on the hammer and trigger. Fitted with correct hand-checkered wood grips - small dings along the bottom edges (this is common and caused by someone using the gun as a "hammer"). The majority of the bore is shiny with great rifling, but there is a small area of minor pitting.
