SOLD - Rare Walther PP Bahnschutz Rig

5/1/18 - This is an extremely rare Walther PP procured by the Nazi railroad directorate in 1941. It is in fantastic 95-96% original condition with most of the high polish blue present and minor holster wear on the high points. Very few of these rare guns have ever been reported by the collectors and most are dated 1940 on the left side of the slide. The other identifying characteristic of these scarce guns is the serial number on the right side of the slide, very similar to the numbering seen on the SS procured guns, but clearly stamped with a different set of dies which are very specific to this variation. It is especially evident if you pay close attention to the number "1" in the serial numbers and in the 1941 date on the left side of the slide. It is unclear how many of these guns were procured in 1940/1941, as only a handful of example are known, all with 1940 date on the left side. These pistols also came with matching numbered magazines, but unlike the SS contract guns, the serial placement on the mags was on the left side and not on the spine. This particular pistol is stamped with 1941 date code on the left side of the slide and also has a properly numbered but mismatched magazine, with identical number font on it. This is the only 1941 dated Bahnschutz pistol known so far. The pistol itself is in beautiful shape with deep pre-war Walther high polish blue and minimal holster wear. All the markings are crisp. Mint bore and excellent grips without defects. The accompanying holster is an original Walther PP AKAH marked holster with the original owner's name written in ink inside the flap. It is in great condition as well with nice sheen to the leather. The spare magazine is an unmarked original wartime PP mag in excellent condition.
