Description
3/10/26- For sale is a Model 1850 Army Foot Officer's Sword. The blade has mild patina and one or two small spots of light rust. The blade has not been sharpened and there are no chips. The blade is nicely etched with the letters "U.S." on the left side with a floral pattern and the same floral pattern on the right side. There is an etching on the ricasso that identifies the manufacturer as "H. Sauerbier Newark N.J.". The brass guard is intact and has an eagle as part of the design. The leather handle and brass guard are undamaged. The leather scabbard is present but significantly worn. There is scuffing to the leather and the tip is damaged, letting the bottom inch or two of the blade stick out. The middle scabbard fitting is loose but still generally held in place by the screw. The decorative tassels appear original. Overall in very good condition.
