5/21/25 - For sale is a Model 1863 Rifled Musket made by Savage under contract. The rifle was accepted by the US Army, as denoted by the Eagle Head proof. The Metal shows its age and wear with freckling of surface oxidation and some micro-pitting throughout. The lockplate is stamped "Savage RFA. Co Middletown, Con", the US Eagle, and the date 1863. The stock is in excellent condition without any cracks or breaks. The bore is bright with good rifling, but there's some darkness from surface oxidation near the muzzle.
