Description
9/23/25 - This is a very unique DWM luger assembled in 1921. It was initially part of the commercial run of pistols, but was pulled from the production line and apparently re-dated and inspected to help fill the Army contract for that year. It has a 5-digit serial number, with the number '8' being added to the end of the original serial number to distinguish it from the commercial serial number block. The receiver was then re-stamped with the year '1921' and after inspection the pistol was issued to the Reichswehr. It was then assigned to an artillery unit as indicated by the stamping on the grip strap. It also has a partial stamping of the unit marking on the backframe, typically to aid in identification by unit armorers while in a rack. This is one of the very few DWM post-war lugers seen with definitive provenance to an Army unit during the Weimar period. All matching, and overall retains about 90% of the original finish - general high edge wear, muzzle wear, and some spotty wear on the grip straps. The bore shows obvious pin-pricking throughout. Comes with a matching wood bottom magazine.
