Description
10/15/26 - This is a scarce Soviet Tula-Tokarev TT-30, manufactured in 1933. The TT-30 was the first Tokarev pistol adopted by the Red Army in 1931, and only about 93,000 were produced before it was replaced by the simplified TT-33 in the mid-1930s. Its most distinctive feature is the separate, removable backstrap, which on the later TT-33 was machined as an integral part of the frame to save production time. The backstrap and frame on this one are both numbered and matching. The top of the slide just in front of the rear sight has been ground where we believe the serial number was, so we cannot tell if the slide is matching. The gun has a shiny finish that we believe to be polished bare metal, with areas of obvious pitting throughout, most noticeable on the slide. Fitted with black bakelite grips and comes with a mismatched magazine. The magazine base is missing its lanyard loop and is not locked in place; it appears that the small metal tab toward the toe has been slightly ground down, but the base only moves if you push on it with a good amount of force. The bore has decent rifling, but there is noticeable pitting throughout. An early, first-model Tokarev that is seldom offered.
