Description
10/16/26 - This is a scarce Colt Model 1911A1 issued to the US military in 1942. Only about 100,000 were produced that year, compared to over 750,000 in 1943. It is "United States Property" marked and has the "WB" inspector initials. It has a later, unnumbered mismatched slide and a correct "Colt 45 Auto" barrel with a small "F" under the lug. Fitted with period-correct reddish plastic grips, and it comes with an "S" marked magazine. The finish rates somewhere between 85 and 90%, with the majority of the finish loss on the front strap, general high edge and muzzle wear, some small scratches and marks here and there, and an area of very light pin-pricking at the right front of the slide. Excellent bore with strong rifling, 9/10.
