Scarce Argentine Air Force DGFM Sistema Colt 1927

8/14/26 - This is a scarce example of an Argentine Air Force Sistema Colt Modelo 1927 built by D.G.F.M. at the F.M.A.P. plant in Rosario. In 1927 Argentina bought a licensed run of Hartford Colts, and the rights to build a M1911A1 pattern pistol at home. F.M.A.P. later produced about 88,500 Sistemas from 1945 through 1966, and only about 4,285 of those went to the Air Force, distinguished by their Aeronautica Argentina markings and the Air Force crest. These examples carry dual numbering, a production serial and a separate Air Force issue number. This example is production serial 74280, with Air Force number 3075, which dates it to 1952. While these left the factory blued, and vast majority of examples that reach the U.S. market have been refinished at least once. This example is no exception and it has been refinished, with a blued slide and a parkerized frame. It is in excellent condition, retaining virtually all of its finish, with just a few scattered scratches on the left side of the slide and a takedown mark on the left side of the frame under the slide stop. The slide matches the frame, with the full serial number along with the air force number stamped on the front-right side of the slide, and just the serial number stamped on top of the slide between the injection port and the rear sight. The barrel is mismatched (numbered 62841). There is a faded import mark on the left side of the frame in front of the grip panel. The brown checkered grips show only minor handling wear, the checkering is still well defined and there are no chips or cracks. The bore is still mostly shiny with decent rifling, but there is light pitting throughout. Comes with one Colt magazine.
