Scarce Colt Model 1903 w/ Colt Letter- Shanghai Municipal Police

10/23/2024 - For sale is a Colt Model 1908 pistol that was issued by the Shanghai Municipal Police in the 1930s. This pistol is in great condition overall but has been refinished long ago. There were other examples that have been refinished the same way so there is a chance that it was done by the Shanghai Police but we don't have definitive proof. The pistol has some edge wear towards the front of the slide and around the muzzle. There is some spotting of oxidation around the grip panels. The grips are plastic replacements as the original wood grips had commonly rotted from the tropical environment. The bore is bright with good rifling. The pistol has matching numbers on the slide and frame. The pistol, frame, and slide have matching Police inventory numbers stamped on them. The slide also was modified by the police to have a leaf spring that retains pressure on the barrel locking lugs during disassembly/reassembly. The pistol comes with a Colt Letter explaining the history of the pistol.
