Description
05/19/26 - This is an extremely rare and unique A.J. Ordnance Thomas .45 manufactured in Covina, California in the late 1970s. Designed as a compact, double action only backup weapon for law enforcement, this pistol features a highly unusual grip-delayed blowback system. The actuator for this mechanism is the button that protrudes from and runs almost the full length of the rear grip strap. Attempting to use this actuator as a grip safety will actively prevent the slide from cycling on this pistol. For those unfamiliar, we recommend reading up on these prior to first use. Production of these was extremely limited before the company ceased operations, with historical estimates placing total production at fewer than 1,000 units.
This particular example features crisp factory rollmarks on the left side of the slide, and is in excellent condition. The pistol retains approximately 96% of its original blued finish, showing minor edge wear along the slide flats and a few scattered handling marks. A small concentrated patch of finish loss on the bottom of the rear grip strap, with a line of rub wear more generally along the rear actuator. The factory ribbed grips are also excellent, showing only light handling marks with no cracks or chips. The pistol comes with one excellent stainless steel magazine. Minty bore, with very few signs of use.
