Description
8/29/22 - This is a very nice example of a FN Model 1930 rifle from the Greek contract. After World War I, FN manufactured Model 30 rifles whose design was derived from Mauser 98 style rifles. Due to a need for rifles between the World Wars, Greece ordered approximately 75,000 of these rifles from FN between 1930 and 1939. These rifles then were utilized during the Greco-Italian War, the German invasion, and the Greek resistance. When Germany invaded Belgium, some of the Greek contract model 30's were captured and utilized before they had been shipped to their final destination. Greek model 30's were also captured and then utilized by German forces after Germany's invasion of Greece. These particular rifles are very difficult to find today. This particular example is in very nice condition overall. The blued finish of the barrel and receiver is in very nice condition showing only minor thinning/finish loss here and there. The butt plate, bolt catch, and the top of the chamber are the most notable patches of finish loss. There is minor oxidation throughout, most notably along the barrel near the muzzle, the bolt handle, trigger guard assembly, floor plate, and rear sling swivel. The wooden stock of the rifle has been sporterized, sanded, and treated. There are no identifying markings along the stock and, other than general characteristics being correct, no way of identifying it as the rifles original stock. The stock has handling wear throughout with dings in the wood here and there. The barrel has a swing swivel attachment that was added by a previous owner. The bore shows strong rifling but frosting throughout.Specifications
