Description
10/28/26 - This is a scarce Canadian Inglis No. 2 Mk I* High Power, manufactured by John Inglis & Co. of Toronto during WWII and chambered in 9mm Luger. Inglis made the High Power in two basic types: the No. 1 pistol, with an adjustable tangent rear sight and a slotted back strap for a shoulder stock, and the No. 2 pistol, with a fixed rear sight and no provision for a stock. A small number of the fixed-sight No. 2 pistols were, however, assembled on frames slotted for the stock, as referenced in the Armourer's Manual issued in November 1944, and very few of these are seen today. This is one of those pistols, and this exact gun is featured by serial number in "The Browning High Power Automatic Pistol" by R. Blake Stevens. It has the proper "MK. I*" and "BROWNING-F.N. 9MM H.P. ... INGLIS, CANADA" markings on the slide, a full-grooved ring hammer, internal extractor and lanyard ring. The gun is all matching and has retained about 97% of its original finish, with just very minor high edge and muzzle wear. Fitted with excellent black bakelite grips and comes with one proper Inglis magazine. Minty bore. A seldom-seen Inglis variation with published provenance.
