12/1/23 - This is a scarce, matching example of a military-issued Gewehr 98 that was made in 1916 at the C.G. Haenel factory in Suhl. All numbered parts on the rifle match, including the receiver, rear sight assembly, bolt assembly, barrel, front band, buttplate, trigger group, stock and even some of the screws. The receiver and bolt are correctly in the white, and the blued areas show some patina and minor patches of finish loss. The stock markings/number are faint as it has been sanded, but they can still be made out and the handguard is also numbered and matching. The bore has strong rifling with minor signs of use.
