Description
5/9/25 - This is an exceptionally rare leather holster specifically fitted for a Luger pistol equipped with the Benke-Thiemann folding shoulder stock. Originally sold in the 1920s, the Benke-Thiemann stock is itself a scarce accessory; an ingenious design that folds flat along the side of the pistol, replacing the standard grip panels. While the stocks are seldom encountered, holsters purpose-built to accommodate them are nearly nonexistent. Most known holsters for the Benke-Thiemann setup are rigid hard shell types, such as the example pictured on pages 160–161 of Luger: The Multi-National Pistol by Charles Kenyon. However, this offering appears to be an even rarer softshell variant, likely produced during the same period. It shows signs of long-term use and age-consistent wear, yet remains in mostly excellent condition. The leather is soft and supple throughout, with a clearly visible internal outline where a pistol or stock once rested for many years, forming the holster’s shape. There is minor wrinkling and light cracking at the upper portion of the holster, consistent with age and storage. The left rear strap is noticeably wider than the right. It's unclear whether this was part of the original design or the result of an old replacement. Due to the extreme rarity of this type, direct comparisons are difficult to make.Specifications
